Emily Donaldson is a critic, writer, and editor whose work appears regularly in Canada’s major newspapers as well as other publications. She is currently the editor of Canadian Notes & Queries, the country’s oldest magazine of culture and literary criticism.

In addition to her freelance work, Emily worked as a writer for a community newspaper in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, and for six years at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Toronto.

Emily has a Master’s degree in English Lit from Montreal’s Concordia University, a joint Bachelor’s in English and History (Hons.) from McGill University, and a Certificate in Editing from George Brown College. Her Master’s thesis, on Virginia Woolf and modernist art theory, won Concordia University’s English Department thesis prize and was nominated for a Governor General’s Award.

Born and raised in Montreal, she now lives in Toronto with her husband and two sons.
